Giovedì 22 Ottobre 2009 - Uno studio si è posto l’obiettivo di identificare in modo precoce, tra soggetti apparentemente sani, quelli ad alto rischio di morte cardiaca improvvisa.I dati di 7.746 partecipanti al Paris Prospective Study, seguiti per 23 anni, hanno permesso di confrontare i cambiamenti della frequenza cardiaca in condizioni di riposo o di lieve stress mentale ( prima di un test da sforzo ) tra i soggetti che sono andati incontro a morte cardiaca improvvisa ( n=129 ), morte coronarica non-improvvisa ( n=129 ), o morte per qualsiasi causa ( n=1.306 ).
L’aumento medio della frequenza cardiaca durante stress mentale è stato di 8.9 battiti per minuto ( bpm ).
Il rischio di morte cardiaca improvvisa è aumentato progressivamente con l’aumentare della frequenza cardiaca durante stress mentale, e il rischio relativo del terzo versus il primo terzile è risultato pari a 2.09 dopo aggiustamento per confondenti.
Questa relazione non è stata osservata per la morte coronarica non-improvvisa.
Un importante aumento della frequenza cardiaca prodotta da un lieve stress mentale permette di predire il rischio, nel lungo periodo, di morte cardiaca improvvisa.
I cambiamenti della frequenza cardiaca prima di un test da sforzo possono pertanto rappresentare un semplice strumento per la stratificazione del rischio.
